I’m certainly happy when this issue is already fixed starting from openSUSE 11.3 Milestone #5, and now I have another computer, ASUS EEEPC 1201T netbook. I installed both openSUSE 11.3 Milestone #7 (zypper dup from openSUSE 11.2) and openSUSE 11.2 in other partition in this computer, and found the WLAN device did not work yet.

I could not find any easier way on Internet about how-to make this WLAN device works right after installing the Linux operating system, so I think it needs a little bit work-around: (more…)

If you are using ZTE MF626 (3G USB-Modem) on openSUSE 11.3 (currently Milestone #7, link), it is now ready to be used without running usb_modeswitch manually, through KNetworkManager.
See these logs: /var/log/messages, and /var/log/NetworkManager for complete tracking of this issue. (more…)

It is already long-time told, the KDE SC 4 would be a cross-platform software compilation so Windows (or even Mac) users are able to use and start to contributing to the community:
The KDE community works on enabling KDE applications both on Unix and Unix-like operating systems such as Linux, Sun Solaris and BSD as well as Windows and Mac.
And that’s why KDE is mature and a great user-oriented desktop, spreading wider usage and faster development. (more…)

Here is the steps:
- Plug the device.
- Mount it through Device Notifier Widget.
- Eject it (ignore the failure message), You’ll see the KNetworkManager icon changes, from ‘unplugged net-device’ to ‘mobile-phone’ .[0]
- Click it, and select Manage Connections / Mobile Broadband, and then fill the necessary configurations.
- Click the desired connection through KNetworkManager in the system tray.[1]
Have fun!
[0] This feature is still in the developer discussion wheter which is a good way should be choosen to swicth the device automatically from media-mode to modem-mode (ejecting the device or through usb_modeswitch), especially for incoming openSUSE 11.3 release.
[1] Some users complain about hang on Waiting for authorization, just disconnect and then connect it again (known bug?).

This is a simple configuration of how to use
KNetworkManager (KDE4) to have Wireless connection on openSUSE 11.2 computer.
In this how-to: no encription (open), and IP Address’s client is obtained from DHCP server.
Have fun!
